Bukittinggi, My Wonderful Hometown

Bukittinggi is a beautiful city that located in West Sumatra. It has cool air and beautiful views. Bukittinggi also called tourism city. As a tourism city, of course Bukittinggi has some tourism place.
Let's we check some of them out.


1. Jam Gadang (Clock Tower)


Jam Gadang (Clock Tower) is the landmark of Bukittinggi. It was built by Yazid Sutan Gigi Ameh in 1926. It was built as the gift from the Queen of Holand for Rook Maker, controleour (government secretary) of Bukittinggi. One of the uniqueness of Jam Gadang is the symbol of time in that clock, which use roman number. The uniqueness is the number of four o'clock was not written as "IV" but written as "IIII".


2. Ngarai Sianok (Sianok Canyon)





Sianok canyon is one of the favorite tourism place in Bukittinggi. It was interesting by it's natural canyon and beautiful view. The lenght of this canyon is 15 kilometers, the width is 200 meters and the depth is 100 meters. Amazing, right? And it's also unique because it's located near the center of the city and its easy to visit. You can see the scenery from the top or the ground of the canyon. In there, you can enjoy the nature that difficult to find in this era. 

3. Lobang Jepang (Japanesse Hole)


Japanesse hole was built by the Japanesse army in 1942. This tunnel has the lenght of 1400 meters and located at Panorama Park and in the Sianok Canyon. It used for the storage suplies and equipment of war for Japanesse army that time. But now, it's open as tourism place. 

4. Zoo and Fort De Cock





Zoo in Bukittinngi is called Kinantan Wildlife and Cultural Park. It is the oldest zoo in Indonesia and have the most complete animal in Sumatra island. In this area, we also can find "Rumah Gadang", the region house of West Sumatra and the museum of animal. 
 Kinantan Wildlife and Cultural Park has a bridge that connect the zoo to the Fort De Cock. This bridge called Limpapeh Bridge (Jembatan Limpapeh). 
  Fort De Kock is a fort that was built by The Holand Army in 1825. Today, we still can find the old cannon there. Fort De Kock is one of the hystorical place in Bukittinggi.
